This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong drilling background, particularly within Sonic and/or Rotary drilling services, and have demonstrable experience working for a recognised drilling contractor.

Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK and Ireland, and investment in new plant, we are looking to recruit a Lead Driller (Sonic & Rotary Drilling). Reporting to the Drilling Manager, you will join an experienced and enthusiastic team of staff delivering drilling and ground investigation services to a wide-ranging client base across Ireland and the UK. The Lead Driller will primarily be responsible for safely setting up and completing sonic drilling services, in accordance with the specification provided by the Client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and site specific requirements at all times
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the drill crew and other operatives and sub-contractors who may be operating within the drilling area controlled by the Lead Driller
  • Attend inductions, training and EH&S meetings as and when required
  • Work with Project Managers and Site Engineers to ensure field work is delivered safely and efficiently whilst maintaining high quality standards
  • Produce site records including, but not limited to; daily drilling logs, pre-start drilling rig checks, one-minute risk assessments, vehicle and tachograph records
  • Undertake ground investigation utilising sonic drilling in accordance with the appropriate specification
  • Complete in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with the requirements set out in Eurocode 7 / British Standards / job specification
  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance, including regular cleaning of rig and vehicle, as and when required. Ensuring the maintenance and appearance of the drill rig and vehicle is kept to a high standard
  • Undertake other general labouring duties e.g. erecting fences, general reinstatement, light instrument monitoring, delivery of consumables, hand dug inspection pits and collection of samples

Role Requirements 

  • Full Clean UK Diving License with ability/licence to tow desirable
  • Valid CSR/CSCS/SafePass card
  • Level 2 NVQ in Land Drilling (Preferred)
  • BDA Audited Lead Driller (Preferred)
  • Mobility, flexibility and commitment
  • Excellent awareness of Health & Safety
  • Organised and motivated
  • Willingness to work away from home for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Keep accurate, legible records of work / tests carried out

Our sites are based throughout Ireland and the UK, with significant travelling involved. You must be willing to stay away from home during the week when necessary and be available to work occasional weekends.

ROLE:  SONIC & ROTARY ASSISTANT DRILLER

Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK, and a significant increase in workload and investment in new plant, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Driller (Sonic & Rotary Drilling). Reporting to the Drilling Manager, you will join an experienced and enthusiastic team of staff delivering drilling and ground investigation services to a wide-ranging client base across Ireland and the UK. You will work in a team with a Sonic Lead Driller to provide support and assistance to them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and site specific requirements at all times
  • Responsible for the health and safety of the drill crew and other operatives and sub-contractors who may be operating within the drilling area controlled by the Lead Driller
  • Attend inductions, training and EH&S meetings as and when required

  • Assist the Lead Driller with the maintenance and appearance of the drill rig and vehicle is kept to a high standard
  • Undertake other general labouring duties e.g. erecting fences, general reinstatement, light instrument monitoring, delivery of consumables, hand dug inspection pits and collection of samples

Role Requirements
