The most intrinsic element of any Ground Investigation Report is the data contained within it. Ultimately the data, transmitted in the latest AGS standard format, is the component of the report which will stand the test of time as it is transported between stakeholders, and interrogated and incorporated into complex geotechnical design.

The quality and integrity of the data is critical, which is why it is imperative that we have a strong team of specialists in place to input, process and review continuously throughout the lifetime of the project. This process begins at site level, be it through the NVQ Level 2 qualified Lead Drillers inputting their logs in digital format using tablets equipped with the latest industry software, or a Land Surveyor collating as-built locations over a challenging site. All data collated in the field is further checked and verified by a strong, experienced team of specialists, ranging from experienced Administrators right through to Chartered Engineers and Geologists with a wealth of industry experience.

Our Soils and Rock Testing Laboratory uses a well recognised Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) which complements and integrates impeccably with our chosen Geotechnical Data Management System. The benefit of this is seamless importing of data files from both field and laboratory into a single database, where it can then be interrogated, checked and verified before issue to the Client.

Results of our ground investigation contracts may be presented as either Factual, or Interpretative reports with recommendations relating to both geotechnical and/or environmental considerations. Standard protocol dictates that the report dataset is also presented electronically in the form of AGS data for integration with BIM.

Both Factual and Interpretative Reports will contain description of work carried out, geotechnical logs, drawings and laboratory testing results, records from any monitoring where commissioned, in-situ test results, and so forth. Interpretative Reports will include discussions on geotechnical and environmental parameters, and provide recommendations for construction.

Ultimately, our reports must fulfil the design brief for which we have been contracted, and as such, we will liaise closely with the Client or their designated Representative, throughout the course of the contract to ensure that the report suitably addresses their needs. Clear, concise and regular communication throughout the lifetime of the project ensures no stone is left unturned (so to speak).
